Poetry & Wine Since ancient times, wine and poetry have gone hand in hand. Wine was treasured everywhere, and poetry was the universal source of entertainment. As it was in olden days, so it still is today. The Sumerians enjoyed their wine while listening to the epic tale of Gilgamesh and his many adventures. The Greeks enjoyed the fruit of Dionysus while Erato, the Muse, inspired poets. Bacchus graced the Romans with the nectar of the vine while poets wove their verse. During Medieval times, bards held royalty spellbound with tales from afar as the gift of wine accompanied every feast. Wine and poetry are two of the staples of a complete and happy life. Wine is good for the body and poetry feeds the soul.
Throughout the world, where people gather to share ideas and listen to poetry, fine wines are the epitome of hospitality. The editors and publisher of The Grapvine Poetry Review take pleasure in bringing the two together in the pages of a quality journal of some of the very best verse of our time.
